Will your Wi-Fi buffer on a 4K Remux?

The Wi-Fi Lie

Your router box might say "AC1200", implying 1200 Megabits per second. This is a theoretical maximum combining both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands in a laboratory vacuum.

In reality, a standard 5Ghz Wi-Fi connection through one wall might only sustain 150-200 Mbps. Network protocols (TCP/IP, SMB) add roughly 20% overhead to the data transfer.

If you are trying to stream a 90 Mbps 4K Remux from a local Plex server to your TV, a 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet port (which many expensive TVs still use) will bottleneck and buffer. You must use 5Ghz Wi-Fi or a Gigabit USB adapter.
