The Mod-2 / Mod-4 Rule
Video codecs like H.264 encode video in blocks of pixels (Macroblocks). Because of this math, the height and width of a video file must almost always be divisible by 2 (Mod-2), and optimally divisible by 16 (Mod-16) for maximum compression efficiency.
If you scale a video and the resulting height is an odd number (like 719px), the encoder will often crash or produce a corrupted file. This calculator automatically rounds the resulting height to the nearest even number to ensure codec compliance.
